Lab data
Pineapple Express potency: THC, CBD and terpenes from 461 lab tests
In 461 state lab tests, Pineapple Express flower had a median total THC of 19.80%, with the middle half of results between 17.54% and 21.75%.1 CBD is negligible, and β-caryophyllene is the leading terpene, ahead of the myrcene Leafly lists as dominant.1,2

How published THC figures compare
Strain databases publish a single figure or a range: Leafly lists 20%, AllBud 25% and Weedmaps 12–27%.2,3,4 Seed sellers claim 17–22% (G13 Labs), about 23% (Crop King) and 28% (Barney’s Farm’s feminized version).5,6,7 In state lab results, 90% of Pineapple Express flower tested below 23.40% and only 4.3% reached 25%, so the 25% and 28% figures describe the top of the range rather than typical flower; the highest single result in our data was 27.75%.1
Medians differ by state, from 17.55% in Massachusetts (22 tests) to 21.00% in Washington (116), among states with at least 10 tests.1 In the years with at least 20 tests (2018–2022), the yearly median stayed between 18.22% and 20.21%.1
Published terpene profiles disagree with each other: Leafly and Barney’s Farm call Pineapple Express myrcene-dominant, and Weedmaps credits its aroma to a typically high limonene content.2,4,7 In the 125 lab tests that report individual terpenes, β-caryophyllene leads and β-myrcene ranks third, with limonene fourth; 119 of those tests come from Nevada labs.1

Limits of this data
- Coverage is uneven. Michigan (195), Nevada (119), Washington (116), Massachusetts (22) supply most of the 461 tests, which date from 2015 to 2024; California, where Weedmaps says the strain first spread through medical dispensaries, contributes only 2 of them. Oregon and Rhode Island results carry no product names and could not be matched.1,4
- Some labs report higher THC than others, so we publish medians and middle ranges rather than maxima. No single lab accounts for more than 23.3% of these tests (33 labs in total).
- Terpene medians come from 125 tests with individual terpene values, 119 of them from Nevada labs, so the profile mostly reflects Nevada flower. Michigan and Washington, which supply 311 of the THC results, report no terpenes, and Maryland reports only a total.
- We matched names strictly: crosses and near-miss names (for example “Purple Pineapple Express”, 137 results) are excluded and counted, and duplicate certificates are removed. Bare numbers count as lot codes, so labels such as “Pineapple Express #2” are inside the sample.
